My practice
I teach a yoga based movement practice. Drawing from classical yoga, my teaching weaves together yoga asana with somatic practices and moving meditations. You’ll experience vinyasa yoga with a twist, “boot camp” exercise with intention and energetic alignment with a sense of ease and wonder. The practice is integrative because, in one class, you might explore energy work through the chakras, at the same time you do a lunge series. Or you might practice breathwork in a moving meditation while working with a message you might have chosen from the cards.
If you have an established yoga practice, this type of embodied yoga can deepen the ways you become more present on your mat and provide you with even more to work with. If you are more of a newbie, you’ll learn the fundamentals and practice in a way that supports you exactly where you are. You’ll become more attuned through deeper listening and you’ll learn to “effort playfully,” building on what already exists within you.
My classes are collaborative: you bring your energy to the space and I offer you, through my years of teaching experience, insights and teachings, an experience in alignment with your needs.
My background
I have been teaching movement since I was in High school, studied Psychology and Dance at Tufts University and completed Graduate work in Movement Studies (MALS) at Wesleyan University. I am E-RYT 500 hour Yoga Alliance certified, along with training in Somatic Awareness and Energy work. I received my 200 hour yoga certification from Saraswati’s Yoga Joint and my 300 hour training in Prana Vinyasa Flow with Shiva Rea.
My yoga studies are diverse, having studied with amazing anatomy and alignment teachers like those at Kula Yoga Project, while finding inspiration in the creative flow of Laughing Lotus. I love The Class by Taryn Toomey and Gaga Dance Improvisation. I have studied Energy Healing with Wendy DeRosa and have completed her training. I teach people of all ages and I am certified through Next Generation Yoga to teach kids’ yoga. I have also taught kids programs at Kripalu.
I am the mom to three amazing humans. I am on a mission to bake the perfect brownie. I play drums and sing in a classic rock cover band with my husband, who is the bass player.
“Beth’s classes are inclusive, and she leads with the knowledge and ease of a true teacher—she listens and looks, adjusts and accommodates all beings and feelings. I am so happy and fortunate to have met her!”
“What makes Beth’s classes so unique is that she creates an idyllic relaxed environment—the perfect blend of music, art, spirituality and dance / rhythmic flow. I leave feeling whole and open to the day and whatever it brings.”
